GAMEDAY- The New Orleans Zephyrs finish a 8 game roadtrip today in Albuquerque. The Z's are 4-3 on the trip and trail first place Oklahoma by5.5 games.

HOMESTAND – The Zephyrs return home Saturday to begin a 8 game, 9 day homestand. The Z's are 13-11 this season at home.

Z's DRILL 5 BOMBS! – The Zephyrs hit a franchise best 5 homers in the game Wednesday afternoon in New Mexico, the previous high was 4 homers in a game.

MAY PLAYERS OF THE MONTH-- The Zephyrs have named SS Chris Burke the offensive player of the month for May, Kirk Bullinger, Pitcher of the Month and SS Eric Bruntlett defensive player of the month.

ALL-STAR MALONEY – Z's Manager Chris Maloney has been named to be a coach for the PCL All-Star at this years AAA Game in Pawtucket. Salt Lake Manager Mike Brumley will manage the PCL and Iowa hitting coach Pat Listach will also be a coach.

NAWLINS NOTES – New Orleans has committed 58 errors, the fifth fewest in the PCL. The Z's have also turned 69 double plays the 2nd most in the league. The Z's offense is 9th in the PCL and the Pitching staff is 12th in ERA, but has allowed the fewest walks and struckout the fewest.

BRILLIANT "BURKE" – Zephyr 2b Chris Burke is 23 for 52 in his 13 game hitting streak. He has 8 doubles and 4 homers and 9 RBI In his streak.

THE BUCK STOPS HERE – C John Buck 10 game hit streak was snapped yesterday. He is tied for the team best with 13 game hit streak with Chris Burke.

HIATT CLOSING IN- OF Phil Hiatt has hit 11 homers since May 15th and has 298 Minor League Bombs, just 3 away from 300. He is the active leader in the Minor Leagues! He is 3rd in the PCL with 14 homers.

THE LONGBALL – New Orleans has hit 60 homers this season. The Z's hit a total of 88 last year. The Zephyrs have homered in 12 straight games.

SIX IS THE MAGIC NUMBER – The Z's are 16-3 in games they have scored 6 or more runs. In 2003 New Orleans was 37-7.

BACKE IS COMING BACK – RHP Brandon Backe has been optioned to the Zephyrs, expected to join the team on Saturday. The Astros signed RHP Pete Munro who will join the big league team.

LEADERBOARD- Chris Burke is tied for 2nd in the league with 16 stolen bases and , 3rd in the league with 70 hits. 1b Royce Huffman is 6th in the PCL with 67 hits. Phil Hiatt is 3rd in the PCL with 14 homers. Jared Fernandez leads the league in innings pitched. Kirk Bullinger is 2nd in the league lead in games pitched with 25 and tied for the league lead with 13 saves. RHP Chad Qualls is 4th in strikeouts and 6th in innings pitched.

ROSTER NOTES- New Orleans has 24 active players on the roster. The Z's also have a player on the DL. RHP Doug Sessions is on the DL, with a sore right shoulder. He has an aggravated labrum and is pitching on the side with rehab work, he will be evaluated during the upcoming homestand and may be available in a week.

THE BUCK STREAK- C John Buck has started 11 straight games as catcher. Chris Tremie has an infected right elbow, is listed as day to day.

IRON MAN- Royce Huffman is the only player that has played in all of the games. No Z player has started every game.

COME SWING WITH THE ZEPHYRS -- The 7th annual Zephyrs Golf Tournament will be at Eastover on June 9th and the shotgun start begins at 1PM. Participants can join as a four some or as an individual and will be matched with a Zephyr Celebrity. Proceeds go to The United Way.

BASEBALL CAMP – The Zephyrs will host a Baseball Camp at Zephyr Field on June 12, 13. Kids can register by calling the Zephyrs at 734-5155. Players and Coaches will host the clinic to instruct players on the fundamentals of the game.

TANK @ ALL-STAR EVENTS – Danny Fatheree has been selected to catch in the bullpen and on the field during this years Major League Baseball All-Star Events in Houston. He will participate in the Futures Game, Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game.

4 MILLION FANS-- The Z's, which celebrate 12 years in New Orleans this year, will honor the four millionth fan to attend a home game sometime in early June. The four millionth fan will win numerous gifts and prizes including a pair of Zephyrs season tickets for the next two years, two roundtrip airline tickets anywhere in the Continental U.S., courtesy of American Airlines, $100 shopping spree at Esplanade Mall, a team autographed ball and jersey, a free T-Mobile cell phone and much more.
