Arkansas Travelers News Release

Corpus Christi, TX - The Arkansas Travelers launched three home runs and won 8-4 over the Corpus Christi Hooks in the series finale on Thursday night at Whataburger Field.

The Travs scored three runs in the first inning, once in the second and four times in the fourth to jump out to an 8-0 lead.

1B Eric Aguilera blasted his team-leading sixth home run of the season in the first inning, a two-run, opposite field shot that put Arkansas up 2-0. The Travs scored again in the first on an 2B Andrew Daniel RBI single.

In the second, RF Chad Hinshaw launched his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot to left that extended the Arkansas lead to 4-0.

Meanwhile, RHP Troy Scribner (W, 3-2) was brilliant in the start for the Travs. The righty worked five innings and allowed just a single with no runs, no walks and three strikeouts. The single was a leadoff pop-up in the first inning that should have been caught, but was wind-aided and landed just inside the first base line about 30 feet from home plate. Scribner only threw 55 pitches.

The four-spot in the fourth featured SS Anthony Phillips belting his first Arkansas Travelers home run and CF Cal Towey's league-leading fifth triple of the season.

Every Travs starter recorded at least one hit, with five of the nine finishing with multi-hit games.

3B Alex Yarbrough finished 3-for-5 and Towey went 2-for-5 with the triple, two runs and an RBI.

Daniel extended his hitting streak to eight straight games and reached base four times.

LHP Jose Molina made his Arkansas debut and tossed a scoreless sixth.

RHP Danny Reynolds allowed three runs in the seventh, RHP Eduardo Paredes surrendered a run in the eighth and RHP Austin Adams slammed the door with a hitless ninth that included two strikeouts.

Hooks starter RHP Kyle Smith (L, 0-5) lasted 3.2 innings and allowed all eight runs on 10 hits with three walks and a strikeout.

With the win, Arkansas improved to 19-28 on the season. The Travs will head to San Antonio to take on the Missions for a three-game series beginning Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
