Boise Hawks News Release

The Boise Hawks (24-26) were defeated by the Everett AquaSox (27-23) on Saturday night by a final score of 5-3. The win secures the AquaSox another series win over Boise at Everett Memorial Stadium. The last time the Hawks won a series in Everett came in 2012.

Everett got the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI-groundout for Bobby Honeyman. The AquaSox got the 2nd run of the game off of Boise starter Pearson McMahan on a solo home run for Nick Rodriguez in the 2nd inning. After two innings, it was 2-0 Everett.

But in the 4th inning, Willie MacIver had an RBI-single to get the Hawks on the board scoring Luke Morgan after he doubled earlier in the inning. MacIver finishes the night going 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

With the score at 2-1, and MacIver on base, Daniel Jipping hit his 7th home run of the year and the Hawks had a 3-2 lead going to the bottom of the 4th. But the AquaSox got a two out, RBI double from Jansiel Rivera scoring Honeyman and they tied it up at four.

Pearson McMahan allowed an RBI double to Honeyman in the 5th and that would be the last batter he would face. McMahan picks up his 2nd loss of the year as he finishes 4.2 innings-pitched allowing four runs.

Bobby Honeyman ends up with a 3-4 night, with two-RBI and a run scored.

Shelby Lackey came in for Boise after McMahan. Lackey went 1.2-innings of scoreless baseball. He has not allowed a run in his last 15.1 innings-pitched out of the bullpen.

Brad Schreiber came to the mound for the first time since 2017, when he was with Class-A Advanced Lancaster, as he returned from injury. Schreiber threw a three-up, three-down 7th for the Hawks.

Everett added one more in the 8th inning. With runners on the corners against Jefry Valdez, the righty struck-out Rodriguez for the 2nd out and on the pitch that got the strikeout, Connor Kopach tried to steal second-base. Willie MacIver's throw to 2nd was not in time and Josh Stowers took off from 3rd base on the throw down.

Everett led 5-3 and hung on in the 9th as Ben Onyshko got the save for the AquaSox. Noah Zavolas ends up the winning pitcher for Everett going three innings of scoreless baseball and striking out five.

Boise will play the final game of the series in Everett tomorrow at 5:05 MT. The Hawks will return home after the All-Star break on August 9th for "Thirsty Thursday" against the Spokane Indians. First pitch will be at 7:15 MT. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
