
Everett Moves Into First Place Tie With 7-1 Win

Prince George, BC - The Everett Silvertips moved into a first place tie in the Western Conference and U.S. Division with a 7-2 win Saturday night against the Prince George Cougars. Everett's win coupled with Tri-City's loss to Portland on Saturday moves both clubs into a first place tie with four games remaining. First star of the night Clayton Cumiskey scored two goals. The line of Kellan Tochkin (2G, 1A), Byron Froese (3A) and Tyler Maxwell (1G, 2A) combined for nine points Saturday night. Scott MacDonald added a goal and an assist for the Silvertips while Chris Langkow, who has a four game point streak, rounded out the scoring for Everett. Thomas Heemskerk made 26 saves for Everett to earn his 23rd win of the season. Cumiskey along with Shane Harper and Daniel Iwanski extended their point streaks to five games each. The Silvertips have a record of 9-0-1-1 in their last 11 games including wins in six straight on the road.
Everett controlled the first period of play scoring three times in the 20 minute frame. MacDonald scored Everett's first goal of the night at 1:57. Collecting a loose puck from behind the net, MacDonald beat Prince George goaltender Hudson Stremmel on a wrap around to make the score 1-0. Langkow added to Everett's lead at 8:13 for his 20th goal of the season. Harper made a great pass out of the corner to Langkow on the right circle before beating Stremmel upstairs glove side. Stremmel was replaced by Alex Wright after Everett's second goal. Cumiskey rounded out the scoring for Everett in the first period with his seventh goal of the season at 15:40. Cumiskey redirected a MacDonald shot in the slot to beat Wright low stick side for a 3-0 lead.
Cumiskey added his second goal of the night at 10:21 of the second period. Cumiskey won the faceoff outside the Prince George zone and beat both Cougar defenseman to go on a breakaway and score on the back hand, five hole past Wright for a 4-0 lead. Tochkin scored Everett's fifth goal of the night at 15:20. Collecting a rebound off a Tyler Maxwell shot, Tochkin found the back of the net for his 26th goal of the year. Parker Stanfield scored Prince George's first goal of the night at 17:05 to finish scoring in the second period.
The Silvertips collected their sixth goal of the night on the power play at 3:51 of the third period. Maxwell scored his 32nd goal of the season on backdoor one-timer from Froese. The Silvertips seventh goal came from Froese on the backhand up high stick side at 11:16.
This brings the âTips record to 44-19-3-2 with 93 points in 68 games played. The Silvertips finish their four game road trip this Tuesday night against the Portland Winterhawks at 7:00 pm.
