Everett Silvertips News Release
Cranbrook, B.C.- The Everett Silvertips lost to the Kootenay Ice 8-2 in their Western Hockey League game on Friday night, November 9th, inside of the Cranbrook Recreational Complex in Cranbrook. Dane Crowley scored twice to give himself a three game goal scoring streak having tallied four goals over that span. Everett's struggles on the road against Kootenay continue as they have never won in the Rec. Plex during the regular season nor did they in their 2005 second round playoff series with the Ice. On the season the Silvertips record is now 11-9 (22 points) overall and 4-3 on this current eight game road trip.
The Silvertips got on the board first and by doing so broke a recent trend of allowing the game's first goal. Crowley continued his streak with a shot from the blue-line; this one coming at the 8:34 mark while on the only power play of the first period for either team. Kyle Beach and Zach Hamill contributed the assists. For Beach, he now has at least one point in 17 of Everett's 20 games this season and in 13 of the last 14. Hamill also now has points in 13 of the last 14 games.
However, the lead lasted just shy of five minutes due to an answering goal scored by Arnaud Jacquemet who executed a redirection tip-in past Silvertips goaltender Shayne Barrie at 13:31. The first half of the second period was played back-and-forth before the Ice initiated an onslaught of scoring in the latter stages of the 20-minutes.
First, Matt Fraser and Jacquemet - with his second of the game - scored just 90-seconds apart from one another at 13:32 and 15:02 respectively. Crowley would temporarily subdue the home team's momentum with his second goal at 17:48. Zack Dailey won a face-off deep in Kootenay territory that wound up on the stick of Crowley. The rest of the Silvertips forwards created just enough traffic in front of the net to successfully screen Ice goaltender Kris Lazaruk.
Kootenay quickly responded though with a goal just 40-seconds later from Andrew Bailey at 18:28 to once again extend their gap on the scoreboard. From then on the Ice never looked back. They added four goals in the final period including Jacquemet capping off a hat trick.
The Silvertips finish off their week-and-a-half long road trip tomorrow night in Spokane as they return to the U.S. The divisional contest against the Chiefs inside the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The team will then have several days off to rest up before finally returning to home ice. Next Wednesday night, November 14th, the Chilliwack Bruins will make their first regular season visit to Comcast Arena at the Everett Events Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
