
Everett Breaks Five Game Losing Streak

Everett closes their five game losing streak tonight at the Three Rivers Coliseum against the Tri-City Americans with a final score of 2-0. Mike Wall earns his 8th shutout of the year. Everett (22-21-6-2) is tied with the Portland Winterhawks for second place in the US Division, both teams with 52 points. Tri-Cities (17-23-5-3) will remain in fifth place in the US Division with 42 points. This is the fifth meeting of ten between these two clubs and Everett leads the series 3-1-0-1.
After two scoreless periods the Everett Silvertips would strike first at 1:36 of the third. Shaun Heshka got the puck from Curtis Billsten at the right point and sent the shot high and over the left shoulder of Tri-City goaltender Carey Price. Alex Leavitt, at 19:21, would seal the deal with an empty net goal to clinch the 2-0 win over the Americans. Kyle Annesley received an assist on the last shot.
Mike Wall, standing strong for his team, made saves on all 29 Tri-City shots. He earns his 8th shutout of the year. Carey Price, in goal for the Americans, played well and stopped 21 of 22 Everett shots. On the power play both teams were scoreless with the Americans having two chances and the Silvertips having four. At the end of the game Tri-Cities out shot Everett by a margin of 29-23.
The Silvertips are in Spokane on Friday, February 4th to face off once again against the Chiefs. Game time is set for 7pm.
