Everett Silvertips News Release

It was a close game tonight at the Key Arena in Seattle, Wa. Despite added pressure late in the 3rd by the Silvertips, the Thunderbirds come out with a 3-2 win. The Thunderbirds remain in first place in the US Division with 69 points and a record of 34-14-0-1. The Silvertips slip into third place in the US Division with 50 points and a record of 21-21-6-2. This is the fourth of ten meetings between these two teams and the series is even at two a piece.

The Silvertips would get on the board first at 1:42 when Zach Hamill fired a backhanded shot that sent the puck right past Bryan Bridges. Line mates Brady Calla and Tyler Dietrich recorded the assists. Clayton Barthel's turnaround shot at the buzzer would tie it up at one a piece going into the second. Tyler Metcalfe and Zack FitzGerald received the assists.

After a scoreless second period, Aaron Gagnon pushed the Thunderbirds' lead to 2-1 at 3:20 of the third on the team's second power play. Gagnon struck again five and a half minutes later on another Thunderbird power play with assists from Derek Couture and Clayton Barthel. Then with eight minutes left in the game, and an extra attacker out for Everett, Assistant Captain Torrie Wheat closed the gap to 3-2. Karel Hromas and Mitch Love tallied the assists on the goal. The Silvertips turned it up towards the end but could not find the game tying or winning goal.

In the net for Everett was goalie Leland Irving. Irving made 17 saves on 20 shots but the loss drops his record to 5-7-1. Bryan Bridges, standing strong for his team, made 21 stops on 23 shots and improves his record to 27-11-0. On the power play Everett went 1 for 3 while Seattle went 2 for 3 with the extra man advantage. Final shots on goal were Everett 23 and Seattle 20.

Tomorrow the Everett Silvertips travel to the Tri-Cities where they will face off against the Americans at 5:05pm.
