ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (4-1) defeated the South Carolina Stingrays (3-2) 6-3 before a crowd of 4,935 at TECO Arena on Friday night. The victory gives Florida a 1-0 series lead over South Carolina. Reggie Berg and Keith Anderson helped lead the way scoring two goals each.

Berg got the scoring started at just 35 seconds into the period when he fired a wrist shot between the legs of netminder Kirk Daubenspeck, breaking a 1-1 tie. The Everblades went up 3-1 when Keith Anderson pounced on a loose puck in the crease and slammed it home 17 seconds later. Matt Pagnutti wrapped up the scoring on the power play when he tipped a shot by Berg under the cross bar and the Everblades led 4-1 after two periods.
Trevor Johnson pulled South Carolina within 4-2 early in the third period. However, Keith Anderson and John McNabb added goals for Florida to preserve the victory. South Carolina would make it 6-3 on a late goal by Curtis Huppe.
