Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, Idaho – Garrett Prosofsky scored his second goal of the night 36 seconds into overtime as the Alaska Aces upended the Idaho Steelheads 4-3 before 3,349 Friday in Game One of the Pacific Division Finals.

The Aces lead the best-of-five series 1-0, with Game Two scheduled for tomorrow night in Boise at 5:00 p.m. MST. Similar to its quick start in round one against San Diego, Alaska grabbed the early lead with two goals in the game's first six minutes. Garrett Prosofsky found Mark Smith for a one-timer from the right circle just 3:28 into the game and Jordan Cameron followed with a tip-in at 6:18 in the midst of an Alaska power play.

Idaho came roaring back in the second period, getting on the board on Jan Kopecky's goal at 5:51, which glanced off a skate before scooting past Aces goaltender Dan Murphy. Lance Galbraith notched the equalizer with 2:07 left in the period, scoring on a Steelhead power play. Prosofsky regained the lead for Alaska at 3-2 just 3:14 into the final stanza, but otherwise Idaho controlled much of the action and climbed back into a tie with 11:29 in regulation when David Bararuk scored off his own rebound. The Steelheads outshot the Aces 29-13 over the last two periods, but Murphy's 34 saves allowed Alaska to get into overtime.

On the first shift in OT, Idaho had possession of the puck behind its own net, but a forechecking Chris Lipsett forced a bad pass by Zenon Konopka, which was intercepted by Prosofsky and rifled home from between the circles. Alaska is now 2-0 in overtime during this postseason and has won four straight games in the playoffs for the first time in its history. Murphy has won his last seven starts dating back to his final three appearances during the regular season.
