(SAUGET, Ill.)- Derek Wiley (pictured) and Greg Alexander both hit a pair of home runs in the Evansville Otters 10-6 road win at the Gateway Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
The Otters lead 3-0 in the first as Gateway pitcher John Flanagan struggled with his control. The lefty walked four batters in the inning including Jake Rogers with the bases loaded. Nick D'Amico, who had four runs batted in the night before, also came through with another two run single.
Greg Alexander and Derek Wiley then hit back to back home runs in the third and Alexander went deep again in the 4th inning for the commanding 6-0 lead.
Gateway rallied back within a run against Otters starter Nick Sottung but Evansville refused to go down easy.
Derek Wiley hit a three-run home run, his second of the night, as the Otters went on to win the game 10-6.
Evansville has now won three games in a row as Gateway has lost three consecutive contests.
Nick Sottung (4-1) receives the win for Evansville after allowing five runs in five innings. The loss goes to John Flanagan (5-5) who gave up the same amount of runs in two innings.
Greg Alexander finished 3 for 5 in the game with two home runs and four runs scored. Derek Wiley also had impressive numbers finishing 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs.
The Otters look to continue the momentum tomorrow night as the team meets the Gateway Grizzlies again. First pitch at G-C-S Ballpark will be at 7:05 PM CDT.
