
Grizzlies Fall to Otters

SAUGET, Ill.-The Evansville Otters scored three times in the first, built a 6-0 lead and defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 10-6 Wednesday night in game one of a three-game series at GCS Ballpark.
John Flanagan (5-5) allowed six runs over two innings in the loss. Flanagan walked four and struck out just one. It was the shortest outing of the year for the left-hander.
The Grizzlies (31-30) mounted a comeback, scoring three times in the fourth inning, and twice more in the fifth to cut the lead to 6-5.
Charlie Lisk added a two-run home run in the fourth to get the Grizzlies on the board. Jason Patton added a solo home run in the inning as well. Gordie Gronkowski and Logan Parker added RBIs in the fifth inning.
The 4th inning homer was the 82nd of Lisk's career, tying him with former teammate Mike Breyman for the No. 2 spot all-time in Frontier League history. Breyman is the Grizzlies all-time leader with 82 home runs. Of Lisk's 82 Frontier League homers, 81 have come in a Grizzlies uniform.
Evansville (22-38) scored three more in the seventh to take a 9-5 lead. Each team scored in the 9th inning for the 10-6 final.
Lisk finished the night 2 for 5. The Grizzlies' catcher is leading the league with 52 RBIs. Gronkowski was 2 for 3 with the RBI. Patton was 2 for 4. Tyler Heil was 2 for 4.
The Grizzlies and the Otters continue the series with a 7:05 pm. Game Thursday night at GCS Ballpark.
