Washington, Pa. - A five-run fourth inning gave Zach Groh all of the support he needed in a solid start for the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial. Groh went seven and allowed two runs while Michael Parker and Luis Rivera had two RBIs each en route to a 6-2 victory over Lake Erie Wednesday.

The Wild Things posted the five runs on three hits and three walks. Michael Parker doubled with the bases loaded to plate two runs. The next batter, Rivera, playing in his first game since June 30, singled up the middle to drive in two more, capping off the five-run outburst.

Groh struck out six batters in his seven innings, including ended the first four innings with strikeouts. The Crushers posted a run in the fourth inning on an RBI double off the bat of Joel Collins. In the fifth, Dom Duggan took a Groh offering deep over the left centerfield wall for his second home run of the season.

Groh settled down after the one-out homer to retire the next two batters and end the inning. He surrendered just six hits in his seven innings, improving his record to 3-4 on the season and dropping his ERA to 3.92 for the season. He has a 2.50 ERA for the month of July in three starts, second best on the team to this point.

Kevin Hammons finished the game out for the Wild Things, retiring six batters in a row over the last two innings to end things.

Lake Erie starter Esmelvin Jimenez was touched up for six runs in 3.2 innings while giving up five runs and walking four.

Parker and Jon Kourie combined for four of the Wild Things' six hits in the game with two each to lead the team.
