Eswarlin Jimenez Promoted to Inland Empire

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that LHP Eswarlin Jimenez has been promoted to Inland Empire of the California League. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Tuesday.

Jimenez was a member of the Kernels 2012 Opening Day Roster and signed by the Angels as an international free agent in 2008. In 21 games (17 starts) for the Kernels, he posted a 7-5 record and 3.51 ERA, allowing 113 hits and 45 runs (38 earned) with 19 walks and 59 strikeouts in 97.1 IP. He leaves as the team leader in wins (7) and ERA (3.51) by a starter.

The Angels did not announce a corresponding move. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the MWL maximum of 25, with one player on the disabled list.

The Kernels continue a seven game road trip tonight at 6:30 pm against the Clinton LumberKings, the Midwest League affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 25th at 6:35 pm to host the Beloit Snappers, the Midwest League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins.
