Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent non-import quarterback Marc Mueller from the University of Regina.
Mueller, the grandson of CFL Hall of Fame quarterback and former Eskimo and Roughrider head coach Ron Lancaster, was the Rams ¬â¢ starter for the past two seasons. In 2010, he threw for 2,437 yards (182-278 attempts), 14 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions. Mueller set a club single season record in 2009 with 310 passing attempts. He set a Rams post season record with 470 yards passing, including a personal best 71 yd completion, in the Canada West semi-final vs. Saskatchewan.
Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says Marc has great leadership skills and has a very advanced understanding of the nuances of our Canadian game which is understandable given his work ethic and the many years he spent with his grandfather. Marc threw the ball very well at the CFL combine and his success at the university level is well documented. Collectively, we want to enhance the opportunities for young Canadians to play quarterback in the CFL, so we're happy to extend this opportunity to Marc and welcome him to the CFL family."
The Eskimo open their 2011 training camp on Sunday, June 5th at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton.
