
Blue Bombers Sign Four Players; Release Four

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed import defensive linemen Dashawn Cassell, Bryant Turner and Jason Vega as well as import receiver Perry Floyd the team announced today.
Cassell (6-3, 280, College of the Canyons, DOB: March 10, 1991 in Staten Island, New York) is coming off his senior year at College of the Canyons where he registered 35 tackles, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, one interception and one blocked kick. He was named to the First-Team Northern National Football Conference team.
Turner (6-2, 260, Alabama at Birmingham, DOB: November 25, 1987 in Mobile, Alabama) appeared in every game for the Blazers during his four-year college career and was very productive, accumulating 97 tackles, three forced fumbles and 18 sacks. He was selected All-Conference USA Honourable Mention as a senior after finishing in the top 10 in both sacks (seven) and tackles for loss (eight).
Vega (6-3, 255, Northeastern, DOB: May 30, 1982 in Boston, Massachusetts) attended training camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season after an outstanding college career that saw him rack up 137 tackles and 41 quarterback sacks in 41 games over four seasons at Northeastern University. He was named to the CAA Academic All-Conference Team in 2009.
Floyd (5-8, 168, Wingate, DOB: October 13, 1988 in Gastonia, North Carolina) was an outstanding all-around athlete at Wingate and was named to the NCAA Division II All-American second team as a return specialist in 2009 and last season he ranked fourth in the NCAA with 187.8 all-purpose yards per game. Floyd was also fourth in the SAC in receiving yards per game (97.8) and had 60 receptions for 978 yards and 12 touchdowns. He set a school single-season record with 1,878 all-purpose yards last season.
The Blue Bombers have also announced that they have released non-import receiver Brock Ralph, non-import fullback Andre Sadeghian, import receiver Chris Davis and import linebacker Courtney Smith.
