Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club is pleased to announce that three members of the team have been named to the 2004 CFL West Division All-Star team. Jason Tucker, Malcolm Frank and Sean Fleming all received the honour after being selected by 45 voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) plus 10 broadcast media. Tucker and Frank were both unanimous selections.
OFFENCE:
Jason Tucker (WR) - Able to score from just about anywhere on the field, Tucker enjoyed a career-year in his third season as an Eskimo. Racking up 67 catches for 1632 yards and 11 touchdowns, Tucker was a terror for defenses across the league. This is Tucker's second West Division All-Star selection, the first coming in 2002.
DEFENCE:
Malcolm Frank (DB) - Opposing receivers and quarterbacks saw a lot of Frank in 2004 as he returned a CFL-record, five interceptions for touchdowns. Frank, who turns 36 on Friday demonstrated that age has little to do with performance finishing the season with 68 tackles, 4 pass knockdowns and 7 interceptions. This is Frank's first West Division All-Star selection.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Sean Fleming (K/P) - A 13-year Eskimo, Fleming gets the nod as the CFL West's top punter for the third time in his career ('01, '03) and as kicker for the third time ('01,' 02). Fleming's 180 points were tops in the CFL in 2004 along with his 78.7 per cent success rate on field goals.
