ROUND ROCK, Texas – The good news for the Round Rock Express after Tuesday night's game with the Tulsa Drillers is the team's earned run average was lowered from 4.87 to 4.82. The bad news was five runs still scored.

Five errors was the undoing for Round Rock in a 5-2 loss in front of 9,920 at The Dell Diamond. The miscues ruined another spectacular start from Chad Qualls, who continued to look like one of the Texas League's most dominant pitchers.

The problems started from the start when an error by Tommy Whiteman kept the first inning going. Andy Tracy took advantage when he followed the error with a double to take a 1-0 lead. Another error in the second allowed J.D. Closser to score on a ground out.

Other than that, Qualls kept to his recent form. He went seven innings and gave up only the two unearned runs on four hits while striking out six. His teammates did battle back to tie the game and avoid tagging him with the loss. A sacrifice fly by Mike Coolbaugh brought home the Express' first run in the sixth and Michael Rosamond's hard hit single drove in the then tying run in the seventh.

Tulsa, though, capitalized on three errors in the eighth to go up 5-2 and put the game away. That made a winner of Driller starter Kip Bouknight (9-7). He went seven innings and allowed both runs – one unearned – on four hits. Justin Huisman pitched the ninth for his 21st save.

Mike Burns (2-13) was the loser.

Game three of the four game series will be Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
