Tucson Sidewinders News Release
Chris Capuano scattered seven hits over eight innings Tuesday lifting Tucson to a 5-4 win in New Orleans at Zephyr Field.
New Orleans made things interesting in the ninth scoring twice off Brian Closey to close within a run. Denny Reyes was summoned from the bullpen and retired Kyle Logan and Henri Stanley to seal the win and earn his second save of the year.
Tucson scored first when Brad Cresse drove in two runs in the top of the first with a bases loaded double.
After the Zephyrs got a run back in the bottom of the second, Tucson pushed the lead to 3-1 with a tally in the top of the third. Lyle Overbay doubled and scored on a single from Chad Tracy.
Tim Olson plated Brian Gordon with a doule in the sixth inning to give the Sidewinders a 4-2 advantage.
Tucson pushed across a big insurance run in the ninth when Doug Devore walked and eventually scored on a double steal with Danny Ramirez.
Tucson improved to 63-61. The Sidewinders and the Zephyrs will play the third game of the series Wednesday night at 5:05 (Tucson time). John Patterson (7-4 2.84) will start for Tucson against the Zephyrs Pete Munro (0-0 0.00).
