Columbus Catfish News Release
Columbus, GA - It took the Rome Braves (26-37) eleven innings to top the Columbus Catfish (32-32) 9-5 at Golden Park Tuesday night. The Braves capitalized off of four Catfish errors that led to two unearned runs.
Columbus took a 5-4 lead into the top of the ninth when Rome's 3B Eric Campbell launched a game-tying pinch-hit homerun. The Braves then struck for four runs off of Catfish reliever RHP Francisco Felix in the top of the eleventh, leading them to the victory.
Rome's first five batters in the eleventh reached base. Their half of the inning culminated with a three-run double by CF Jamie Romak. Rome reliever LHP Kyle Gunderson shut the door on Columbus to earn his fourth win of the season. Columbus scored all five runs off of Rome starter LHP Nelson Payano. However, the Catfish bats remained silent during the extra frames as they managed just two hits after the ninth.
Columbus CF Bridger Hunt had four singles and scored three runs in a losing cause. Catfish starter RHP Arismendy Castillo pitched six strong innings and struck out five.
The four-game series will continue Wednesday at 7:00pm at Golden Park. RHP Joe Jones (1-1, 2.52) will face LHP Adam Stanley (2-7, 3.72). For tickets or more information call (706) 571-8866 or visit www.ColumbusCatfish.com.
