SAVANNAH, Ga. - Savannah pitching surrendered 10 runs on 12 hits as the Sand Gnats dropped a 10-2 decision to the Charleston RiverDogs on Tuesday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.

Gnats starter Brett Nyquist suffered his third loss of the season, giving up three runs on four hits in four innings on the hill. The Savannah bullpen provided little relief as Gene Yost allowed two runs, one earned in two innings and Greg Bunn was charged with five runs in just 0.1 innings on the mound. Oscar Lira came on with one out in the seventh and allowed just three walks with three strikeouts in 2.2 frames.

Tim Pahuta led the Gnats at the dish, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Edgardo Baez also doubled and scored for Savannah, finishing the game 1-for-3.

The RiverDogs jumped on Nyquist right away in the first, getting three runs, including two off a Ben Jones homer. After posting two more in the sixth, Charleston pulled away in the seventh with five runs, all charged to Bunn.

The Sand Gants and RiverDogs play Game 3 of the series Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. as Savannah sends right-hander Bryan Lambert Jr. to the mound to face Charleston righty Christian Garcia. Wednesday is the Sand Gnats' final Working Women's Wednesday where women can show their business cards for $1 admission and be entered to win special prizes throughout the game.
