Altoona Curve News Release

ERIE, PA - The Erie SeaWolves used a five-run eighth inning, aided by five walks to pull away late and grab a 10-4 win over the Curve Friday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Trailing 5-4 headed into the eighth, reliever Kevin Roberts issued five free passes, four of which came around to score much-needed insurance runs for the SeaWolves (11-10) to take the second game of the series against the Curve.

The Curve (10-11) scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and took a 4-2 lead thanks to a two-run double by Luis Cruz in the top of the sixth. Cruz finished the night 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. The lead was short lived, though, as Erie countered with a pair of runs off reliever Dave Davidson (0-2) in the bottom of the frame and never looked back.

Corey Hamman started the game for Altoona and gave up a pair of runs on four hits over four innings of work.

For Erie, Danny Christensen, Anthony Tomey (2-1) and Casey Fien combined to hold the Curve to six hits, and prevented Altoona from surpassing the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The Curve return to action Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. for the third game of the four-game showdown. Radio coverage on flagship station WHPA-FM, 93.5 and the Curve Radio Network begins at 12:50 p.m. Altoona will give the ball to lefty Kyle Bloom (0-2, 10.13) who starts in place of the injured Derek Hankins, while Erie will send righty Josh Rainwater (1-0, 2.81) to mound.

Altoona will return home on Tuesday to open a six-game homestand with the Harrisburg Senators (Nationals). Tuesday's game starts at 6:35 p.m. and great seats are still available. Get your tickets today by calling 877-99-CURVE, in person at the Blair County Ballpark box office, or online at AltoonaCurve.com.
