June 17, 2023 - Eastern League (EL)
Erie SeaWolves News Release
The SeaWolves fell behind early and could not rally against the Senators, falling 7-0.
Trei Cruz notched a leadoff single for Erie to begin the first inning. He was stranded on base and turned out to be Erie's only hit in the game.
Brant Hurter struggled in his first inning. Jacob Young and Robert Hassell III had consecutive singles to begin the game. After Jack Dunn sacrificed them into scoring position, Young scored on a wild pitch to begin the scoring. With two-out, Trey Lipscomb singled home Hassell. Then, Frankie Tostado and Terone Harris III hit back-to-back run-scoring doubles. Harrisburg hung four runs on Hurter (2-3) in the first inning, which was his only inning of work in the losing effort.
Michael Bienlien took over in the second inning and allowed a run on Dunn's two-out, RBI infield single which scored J.T. Arruda from second base. Andrew Navigato dove to keep the ball on the infield but could not throw Arruda out at home plate.
Chavez Fernander entered in the fifth to make his first appearance for Erie this season. He allowed a leadoff double to Dunn followed by a long two-run homer to James Wood. Wood's blast extended the Harrisburg lead to 7-0 which would be the final score.
Mitchell Parker (4-3) allowed just a run with one hit and three walks allowed in seven shutout innings. He struck out four in the win.
Erie and Harrisburg wrap up their series on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
