Erickson Wins January's Oakley Three Stars Award

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. ‚¬" The Arizona Sundogs, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League, announced today that forward Luke Erickson has won the league's Oakley Three Stars Award for the month of January.

Erickson was named a star in six of the 11 contests in which he played, including four first star selections, earning 24 total points.

Players are awarded five points when recognized as a game's first star, three points for a second star nod and a single point for being named the third star of the game.

Quad City's Eric Giosa ranked second overall in January with 22 points while Texas' Chad Woollard finished third with 19 points.

Erickson finished the month of January with 17 points (11g/6a) in 11 games, being held without a point just once. The Roseau, Minnesota, native collected points in the month's first eight games before having the league's second-longest point streak (13 games) come to an end in a 4-1 loss to the Colorado Eagles on January 28.

Acquired in a trade with the Rapid City Rush on November 10, Erickson has tallied 45 points (26g/19a) and four game-winners in 31 games with the Sundogs. Erickson is averaging more than a point per game this season and leads Arizona in scoring with 49 points (28g/21a) in 37 games. The 5-foot-8, 170-pound forward has collected points in 26 of the 31 games he has played in a Sundogs uniform, including 15 multiple-point games and nine multiple-goal efforts. Erickson's 28 goals and 11 power-play goals lead the CHL.
