Allen Stays on Top of Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll

TEMPE, AZ (February 2, 2011) - For the fourth consecutive poll and for the fifth time this season, the Allen Americans have been voted the #1 team in the Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll. The Americans are the number one team in the league with a 30-8-1 record and 61 points (nine more than the next closest team). Allen is coming off an 8-3-0 record in the month of January. The Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll is released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn nine points, etc.

The Americans earned 15 first place votes, followed by Rapid City with two and Colorado with one.

Nine of the top 10 teams remained the same with the lone change being the Wichita Thunder (23-15-3) jumping into the poll all the way up to the #4 spot. The Thunder were 9-2-1 in the month of January and are not poised in the fourth spot in the Turner Conference. The team dropping out was the Odessa Jackalopes (19-18-5) who fell from #7 to outside of the top ten.

The Rapid City Rush (24-17-4) and Tulsa Oilers (23-19-1) also made big jumps with the Rush moving up six spots (from #9 to #3) and the Oilers moving up four spots (from #10 to #6).

The biggest fall in the latest poll belongs to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (22-19-2) who drop from #2 all the way down to #10.
