Engelb Vielma activated from disabled list

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Engelb Vielma has been activated from the 7-day disabled list and that catcher Bo Altobelli has been released from the roster. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.

Vielma went on the DL with a concussion suffered in a collision with outfielder J.D. Williams during the Kernels game with Beloit on July 7th. In 70 games for the Kernels, he is batting .253 with 11 doubles, three triples and 21 RBI.

In 44 games for the Kernels, Altobelli hit .224 with eight doubles, a home run and five RBI. He split time this season at first base and catcher for the Kernels this season.

With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the DL.

The Kernels begin a six game home stand tonight against the Lake County Captains at 6:35 pm. It's a First Federal Credit Union Free Money Wednesday as First Federal Credit Union is passing out $500 when the gates open at 5:30 pm with the top cash prize of $100. The current home stand continues through Monday, July 21st.
