
Energy Tops Dakota For First Place In Central Divison

DES MOINES, Iowa, February 28, 2009 - The Iowa Energy defeated the Dakota Wizards 114-108 Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena as they battled for sole possession of first place in the Central Division.
Strong performances by Courtney Sims, Othyus Jeffers, Demetris Nichols helped lead the Energy (19-13) to a victory over the Wizards. Jeffers and Nichols both contributed 26 points as Courtney Sims chipped in 30 points. Curtis Stinson (13 points, 7 assists) and Brian Evans (11 points) rounded out the five Energy starters who scored in double digits.
Leading the Wizards offense was Blake Ahearn scoring 25 points, with Will Fribsy and Maurice Baker both adding 17 points a piece. David Bell scored 14 points coming off the bench as Richard Hendrix and Hamed Haddadi both contributed 12 points.
The Energy will travel to Sioux Falls for a pair of games next week on Tuesday and Thursday at 7PM. All Energy games can be viewed for free at www.nba.com/dleague on NBA Futurecast.
