
Energy Defeat Delaware on Opening Night

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Energy defeated the Delaware 87ers 136-113 on Saturday night, improving to 6-2 on the season.
The 87ers jumped out to an early lead, and led 19-11 with 5:54 to go in the first quarter. Iowa took their first lead of the game after Kalin Lucas hit a pair of free throws, and led 36-32 at the end of the first.
After taking a 68-63 lead into the half, the Energy pushed the lead to 20 after Chris Allen and Austin Freeman hit 3 quick three pointers. Iowa pulled away in the fourth quarter and defeated Delaware, who moves to 2-7 on the season. The Energy's biggest lead was 24, while the 87ers largest was 13 early on in the first quarter.
Delaware had 7 players in double figures, led by Mfon Udofia's 18. Kendall Marshall finished with 17 points and 10 assists. Damian Saunders and JR Inman also contributed double-doubles.
The Energy were led by Moses Ehambe, who shot 6 of 10 from behind the arc on his way to a season high 34 points. He also had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Othyus Jeffers had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Allen contributed off the bench, hitting 5-8 from 3-point land and finished with 21 points. Austin Freeman also added 17 points.
The Energy will play host to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Thursday, December 19th, which will feature 2 for 1 sideline seats.
