Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 7, 2010) - At Monday night's game between the Long Island Ducks and the Bridgeport Bluefish, Roger Clayman was recognized as the fifth and final "Empire Angel" of the 2010 season. He received a plaque, hat, t-shirt, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Since 2005, Roger Clayman has served as the Executive Director of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, the fourth largest labor council in the country. The Federation's primary efforts include seeking to gain good jobs and housing in local communities. The Federation also assists local unions in achieving their mission to establish decent pay, benefits and working conditions for their membership. Long Island's unions participate in charity drives and donate their time and labor to support the work of local service organizations. These unions are part of our community and this is why Roger Clayman was Monday night's Empire Angel.

The Long Island Ducks have teamed up with Empire BlueCross BlueShield to present the "Empire Angels" program. This program has been designed to recognize those who give back to their community and are selfless in helping others. Those selected as the "Empire Angel" received four tickets to the game, were recognized during a pre-game on-field ceremony, and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Suffolk County Sports Park and are in their 11th season of play. Individual game tickets for the Ducks 2010 season are on sale now.
