Riversharks Fall To Ducks

(September 7, 2010- CAMDEN, NJ) The Riversharks dropped the first game of the series to the visiting Long Island Ducks. Kyle Jackson earned the win this evening and improves his record to (2-3) while Brad Knox (4-9) suffered the loss.

Chris Walker led off the bottom of the first with a double into right field with Richie Robnett next with a single. The first run was driven in by Brian Burgamy on a fly out to right field.

Long Island answered the following inning with two runs. Matt Padgett had a leadoff single and Matt Esquivel reached due to a third baseman error. Two batters later, Joey Gathright singled to drive in the batters for two unearned runs.

The visitors put together five runs in the third inning as a result of some errors by the Riversharks. By the time the frame was finished the Ducks made the score 7-1.

Two more runs were added, one in each the fifth and sixth innings for the visitors. Esquivel and Gathright both scored. Gathright finished the night going 3 for 5 with 1 run and two 2 RBI's. Padgett was 2 for 5, 2 RBI and 2 runs while Esquivel also closed the evening 2 for 5, 2 RBI's and 3 runs.

Late in the game the Sharks added a few runs looking to tie up the score. With two outs on the board, Chris Walker stepped to the plate and popped up a ball in between the first baseman and catcher, making it difficult to grab. With this play, Walker was able to reach base with Robnett coming to the plate next. Robnett then hit a 2 run homer to make the final score 9-3.
