August 6, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- After being no-hit for eight innings by right-hander Brandon Erbe, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats pounced on reliever Jim Hoey for three singles and a run in the bottom of the ninth, with Brad Emaus's RBI single extending his hitting streak to a season-high tying seven games in the Bowie Baysox' 7-1 victory over the Fisher Cats on Thursday night before a standing-room-only crowd of 7,370 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Erbe (3-3) issued three walks and notched five strikeouts in his eight innings of dazzling work to win his second consecutive start and third straight decision.

With New Hampshire (50-61) trailing 7-0, Todd Donovan (1-for-4, R) ended the no-hitter with one out in the ninth when he grounded a 3-2 delivery from Hoey to right for a clean single. Adam Calderone (1-for-4) then pulled a single down the right field line, and Emaus (1-for-4, RBI) prevented the shutout by lining a shot to center.

Bowie (60-51) raced out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning against Adrian Martin. Jonathan Tucker (2-for-4, 2B, 2 R, BB) and Danny Figueroa (2-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, 3 R) set the table with back-to-back doubles. Paco Figueroa (2-for-4, RBI, R, BB) made it 1-0 with a run-scoring ground out, and Eric Crozier's sacrifice fly made it 2-0. Following a Miguel Abreu (1-for-4, BB, RBI, R) single, Ambiorix Concepion (1-for-3, 2B, 2 BB, RBI, SB) drove him in for the third run of the inning with a double off the wall in left-centerfield.

Martin (2-2) lost his first decision since June 17 after allowing three runs on six hits in five innings. The right-hander fanned three and walked three.

The Baysox capitalized on a bout of wildness from Leon Boyd to increase the lead in the top of the seventh. Boyd issues three walks, including a bases-loaded base on balls to Abreu that forced in the Baysox' fourth run. Dave Krynzel (0-for-3, SF, BB) added a sac fly off reliever Nate Starner, putting Bowie out in front, 5-0.

Crozier (1-for-3, BB, SF, RBI) tacked on a two-run single off Starner in the top of the eighth, building the lead to 7-0.

The Fisher Cats open a three-game weekend series against the Altoona Curve at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Friday night at 7:05pm. New Hampshire left-hander Luis Perez (7-9, 3.75) opposes Altoona right-hander Tim Alderson (7-1, 3.33). Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm with the BayRing Pre-Game Show on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman and Mike Murphy.
