Ely Powers Legends Past Toros in Austin

CEDAR PARK, TX, (Jan. 4, 2014) - The Texas Legends, presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), faced the Austin Toros in the sixth of a ten-game series between the in-state rivals. After a 25-point loss the previous night, the Legends rolled over the Toros 122-114 tying up the season series 3-3.

The Legends shot 49.4% on the night, 40.9% from beyond the arc, while the Toros hit 50% but only 28.6% from long distance. The Legends also utilized the boards to control the game, outrebounding Austin 50-39. Melvin Ely and Devin Ebanks combined for 61 points, but the Legends used a balanced scoring attack with six players hitting double-digits. Texas took off to an early lead and maintained control through four quarters, seeing as much as a 19-point advantage.

Ely led the Legends in scoring, going 15 of 18 for 32 points and adding 8 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a blocked shot. Ricky Ledo posted the Legends' only double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Ronald Murray posted a game-high 35 points for the Toros while Eric Dawson had the team's only double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

The Legends will head to Reno next for the NBA Development League Showcase where they will take on the Canton Charge on Jan 7 at 12pm CT and the Delaware 87ers on Jan 9 at 12pm CT.
