66ers Hold off Red Claws

PORTLAND, Maine, January 5, 2014 - The Tulsa 66ers topped the Maine Red Claws, 100-93, on the road Sunday behind 30 points from Reggie Williams on 10-for-17 shooting.

Williams shot 4-8 from three-point range to go along with six assists, three rebounds and three steals. Twenty of his points came in the second quarter.

Isaiah Wilkerson posted 16 points, four assists and three rebounds and Mario Little scored 15 points with four rebounds and four assists. Rodney Bartholomew added 14 points and nine boards.

Tulsa, who fell 105-96 to the Red Claws on Thursday night, trailed Maine 19-14 near the end of the first quarter before spurring a 23-7 run to take a 37-26 lead midway through the second. The Red Claws answered with a 9-2 run before the 66ers went on a 10-1 run of their own. The 66ers outscored Maine 34-27 in the second quarter on 13-for-22 shooting, including 4-for-6 from behind the three-point arc. Williams shot 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range in his 20-point quarter.

The 66ers took an 80-67 lead into the fourth quarter where Maine used a 16-8 run to pull within five as two just over two minutes remained. Tulsa responded with a 9-3 run over the next minute and a half to bring their lead back up to 11 before holding off the Red Claws in the final 30 seconds to seal the road win.

Tulsa outrebounded the Red Claws 49-37 while forcing 17 Maine turnovers. By holding the Red Claws to 93 points, Tulsa has now held its opponents to under 97 points in four of its last five games.

The 66ers bench outscored Maine's 41-11 and totaled 19 rebounds, including a game-high 12 by Maurice Sutton.

Maine was led by Boston Celtics assignee MarShon Brooks with 36 points, six rebounds, five assists, five steals and three blocks.

The 66ers now head across the country to Reno, Nev., for the 2014 NBA D-League Showcase. Tulsa will face the Los Angeles D-Fenders at 9 p.m. on Tuesday and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 5:30 on Wednesday. Both games will be televised on tape delay by NBA TV and aired live on YouTube.
