
D-Fenders Impressive Fourth Quarter Finishes the Jam

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Bakersfield Jam 107-94 tonight at the Toyota Sports Center.
In the first quarter, the D-Fenders (7-7) got off to a sluggish start by shooting 29.2 percent from the field and found themselves down 15 points to the Jam (8-9). The D-Fenders defense led a comeback in the second frame forcing Bakersfield into eight turnovers and 37.5 percent from the field. In total, the D-Fenders hit 21 of their 52 shot attempts (40.4%), amassed 10 steals and trailed by three points entering half-time.
A running floater from Manny Harris gave the D-Fenders their first lead of the game one minute into the third quarter. Los Angeles outscored Bakersfield 28 to 25 in the period and tied the game at 79 with the final frame ahead. The lead would change hands four times in the first five minutes of the final quarter before the D-Fenders took grasp of the game. Los Angeles mounted a 17-6 run over the final seven minutes to seal their seventh victory of the season and fourth in a row.
Manny Harris notched his second straight double-double (27 points, 12 rebounds) to lead Los Angeles. Jamario Moon (20 points, five steals, three blocks), Josh Magette (14 points, nine assists) and Brandon Costner (12 points) also finished in double-digits. Terrence Williams, in his D-Fenders debut, pitched in 12 points off of the bench as well.
The Jam were paced by Toronto Raptors affiliate Dwight Buycks (19 points), Atlanta Hawks affiliate Jared Cunningham (16 points), Ike Diogu (15 points, 11 rebounds) and James Nunnally (13 points). Brian Butch (14 rebounds) and Utah Jazz affiliate Rudy Gobert (12 rebounds) also contributed double-digit rebounds for Bakersfield.
Overall, the D-Fenders were outshot 42.4 percent to 41.0 percent; however they forced Bakersfield into an opponent season-high 31 turnovers. Los Angeles held the edge in assists (28-23), steals (17-9) and blocks (9-6) as well.
The D-Fenders next two contests will take place at the D-League Showcase in Reno, Nevada. They will take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami Heat affiliate) on January 6th at 6:30pm and the Tulsa 66ers (Oklahoma City Thunder affiliate) on January 7th at 7:00pm at the Reno Events Center.
