The Jackals are facing the Nailers tonight for the 15th of 15 meetings this season and the seventh of seven at WesBanco Arena. Elmira is 3-8-3 against Wheeling this season, which includes a 1-3-2 record on the Nailers' home ice. Elmira has earned points in three of six games at WesBanco Arena after dropping the first two meetings this season by a combined 8-2 score. Elmira is 3-3-3 in its last nine against Wheeling after the Nailers won five in a row to start the season series. Even though Wheeling has won 11 of the first 14 meetings, the season series has been quite close. Seven of the first 14 games have been decided by one goal, and three others have been decided by two. Two of Elmira's three wins, though, have been by identical 5-2 scores (Feb. 21 and Dec. 12 in Wheeling).
Jordan Pietrus set a new career high last Friday. His second period shorthanded goal was his 3rd of the season and one better than the two he posted in 12-13. Pietrus has 60% of Elmira's SHGs this season and is tied for third in the league in shorthanded markers. His former teammate (S. Carolina, 10-11) David de Kastrozza leads the league with five SHG.
