
Road Warriors Slip Past Stingrays 2-1

Greenville, SC: Josh Nicholls and Jordie Johnston scored for the Road Warriors to help the Road Warriors edge past South Carolina 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Road Warriors took an early lead 4:06 into the first period when Nicholls scored a shorthanded goal for his 18th goal of the season. Nicholls' shot bounced off a South Carolina defensemen and into the net to give Greenville a 1-0 lead. The first period saw six fighting majors, with Sean Berkstresser and Nick Larson getting kicked out of the game for continuing an altercation. The Road Warriors outshot the Stingrays 9-8 and the period ended with the Road Warriors up by a score of 1-0.
The Road Warriors upped their lead to 2-0 5:17 into the second period when Johnston sunk a rebound off a shot from Mike Marcou while on the power play. It was the center's 22nd goal of the season and Bretton Cameron got the secondary assist. South Carolina cut Greenville's lead to 2-1 when Stephan Viger deflected a shot off Sam Noreau and past Malcolm into the net. It was his second goal of the season and Dylan King was awarded the assist. The period ended with Greenville being outshot 12-10 but up 2-1.
During the third period, the South Carolina Stingrays made a last minute push to tie the game but Jeff Malcolm stopped all ten Stingray shots and the Road Warriors defeated South Carolina 2-1.Malcolm made 29 saves to earn his 12th win of the season
The Road Warriors are back in action on Friday, April 4th when they travel to Gwinnett to play the Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. Fans can listen to the game by clicking the listen live link or by watching on America One.
