The Pioneers started off looking like the team with the 22-8 record, going up 5-0 after three innings, but Brockton responded with eight unanswered runs to win 8-5. Elmira's four-run second inning included RBI singles from CF Jobu Morita, C Ryan Smith, and RF Jeremy Dodson, and the Pioneers added another in the third on a Yuri Nerei solo home run. The Rox came up with five in the fourth, including a two-run triple from 2B Mike Torres, and added three more in the sixth on an RBI single from Torres and a two-run double from LF Angel Arroyo. Brockton's Tony Runion struck out the side in the ninth for his league-leading tenth save.
