Elmira Pioneers News Release
Elmira, NY- Toshi Suzuki extended his hitting streak to eight games with a pair of hits, but it wasn't enough as Les Capitales de Quebec blanked the Pioneers by a final of 5-0 Friday night at Dunn Field.
Elmira got a good start out of Rolando Viera (2-2), who allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings, while striking out seven but the Elmira offense just couldn't get things going against Quebec's Danny Prata.
Prata went five innings yielding five hits and one walk while striking out two before turning things over to Wes Faust who tossed the final four frames for Quebec to earn his first save of the season.
Quebec got their first three runs of the night in the fourth inning on three singles and a couple of doubles against Viera. Les Capitales then added insurance markers in the seventh and ninth innings to secure the 5-0 win.
Six different Pioneers had hits in the game with Suzuki and Amaury Casana each collecting a pair of knocks, while Jabe Bergeron reached base twice with a single and a walk.
