Elder Scores Hitmen Winner in OT

Calgary, AB - Kaden Elder tipped home the game winner 2:30 into overtime to propel the Calgary Hitmen past the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The win was Calgary's fifth in eight games in a run that has seen the Hitmen post a 5-2-0-1 record.

Jake Kryski turned in a first-star performance setting up Elder's goal while scoring a pair of markers himself for a team-leading three points. Bryce Bader collected Calgary's other goal for his first in the Western Hockey League.

Brett Kemp, Quinn Benjafield and Trey Fix-Wolansky replied for Edmonton which trailed 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Calgary outshot the Oil Kings 31-29 and also won the special teams battle going 1-3 on the power play while killing all three shorthanded situations.

The Hitmen will now wrap up the weekend tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 2 against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at the 'Dome for Tim Hortons Timbits Hockey Day featuring a first intermission Timbits hockey game.
