Game Day Preview: Pats Return to Home Ice Saturday to Take on Prince Albert

The Regina Pats (8-18-0-0) are back on home ice for the first time since November 10 on Saturday when they host the Prince Albert Raiders (25-1-0-0). Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. at the Brandt Centre. The Pats are coming off a 5-1 loss in Brandon on Friday night to conclude a stretch of seven in a row on the road. The Raiders have been off since Wednesday when they picked up a 6-3 win in Edmonton. Tonight is the fourth of six meetings between the Pats and Raiders, Prince Albert is 3-0-0-0 in the season series. Tonight's game can be heard with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey starting at 6:35 p.m. on 620 CKRM .

The Lead Up: Pats dealt 5-1 loss in Brandon Friday

The Regina Pats were dealt a 5-1 road loss on Friday night in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. Brandon opened the scoring 6:02 into the first on a breakaway goal from Ben McCartney. Regina got it back on the powerplay, Ty Kolle banged home a rebound for his first in a Pats uniform and eighth of the year to tie the game 1-1. The Wheat Kings got the lead back less than a minute later and took the 2-1 advantage to the intermission. In the second, Brandon got a powerplay goal from Luka Burzan and an even strength marker from Cole Reinhardt to lead 4-1 after 40 minutes. In the third, the Wheat Kings scored the lone goal with 4:51 left and took the two points in a 5-1 final. The Pats outshot the Wheat Kings 30-29, the powerplay was one for six and the penalty kill six for seven. Ty Kolle and Jadon Joseph each picked up points in their Pats debuts and Max Paddock made 24 saves.

First Game First Goal

Forward Ty Kolle scored a goal in his first game in a Pats uniform on Friday night in Brandon. The 18-year-old put home a rebound on the powerplay in the first period for his eighth tally of the year. A product of Kamloops, British Columbia, Kolle has set a new career high in goals for a season thanks to that marker. His previous high of seven goals was set in 60 games last season as a member of the Portland Winterhawks. He is up to 12 points on the year which is third on the Pats in scoring.

Joseph on the Board

Newly acquired centerman Jadon Joseph recorded his first assist with the Pats on Friday night. The 19-year-old picked up the helper on the powerplay, his third powerplay assist of the season. Joseph. who hails from Sherwood Park, Alberta, is up to 20 points on the season, scoring 10 goals and 10 assists in 24 games. He is on pace to well surpass his previous career high in points set last year with Lethbridge when he had 32 in 53 games.

Evans Back to Back

Pats defenceman Ryker Evans has points in back to back games for the first time in his Western Hockey League career. The 17-year-old rookie picked up an assist in Prince George last Friday and added another helper last night in Brandon. A former 10th round pick, Evans is up to four assists in 26 games this year.
