Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings made it back to back wins Friday night with an impressive 5-1 victory over the visiting Regina Pats.
Brandon got goals from five different players and rookie netminder Ethan Kruger turned aside 29 shots as the Wheat Kings snapped a 3-game losing streak on home ice and improved to 12-7-3-3 on the season.
The Pats, who engineered a blockbuster trade with the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Thursday, slipped to 8-18-0-0.
Linden McCorrister scored once and set up another for the winners, who led 2-1 and 4-1 at the period breaks.
Singles came off the sticks of Ben McCartney, Cole Reinhardt, Marcus Sekundiak and Luka Burzan, on the powerplay. Rookie defenceman Vincent Iorio meanwhile added an assist for his first ever point in the Western Hockey League.
Newly acquired Ty Kolle scored in a losing cause for the Pats, who received a 24-save performance from former AAA Midget Wheat King goalkeeper Max Paddock. Kolle, Jadon Joseph and a parcel of draft picks went from Lethbridge to Regina on Thursday in exchange for veterans Jake Leschyshyn and Nick Henry.
