El Paso Defeats Sacramento

Brent Rooker's three-run game-ending home run gave the El Paso Chihuahuas a 9-6 win over the Sacramento River Cats Saturday night. It was El Paso's second walk-off homer and third walk-off win of the season.

The Chihuahuas hit five home runs, including three after the seventh inning. El Paso first baseman Aderlin Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two home runs and a double. Rodriguez' nine home runs and 35 RBIs this year lead the team. Third baseman Matthew Batten went 1-for-4 with a game-tying home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Chihuahuas designated hitter Shogo Akiyama went 2-for-4 with his first home run with El Paso. El Paso catcher Brett Sullivan threw out a Sacramento runner trying to steal Saturday, giving the Chihuahuas a league-leading 15 runners caught stealing this year. The Chihuahuas have won three of the five games in the series and will try to clinch their third consecutive series win Sunday.
