Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) - After hitting a 451-foot homer off the Isotopes Park scoreboard Wednesday, Pedro León was not done hitting tape-measure homers in Albuquerque.
The Houston Astros No. 4 prospect, per MLBPipeline, hit a 458-foot three-run homer as part of a two-homer night Saturday in a 12-2 win for the Sugar Land Space Cowboys over the Isotopes.
León's first home run, which appeared to travel over a canopy and to the back fence in left field at Isotopes Park, was the longest from the Space Cowboys this season, surpassing the previous high he set Wednesday. His second three-run homer of the night went 449 feet to dead center in the eighth, leaving his bat at 110.7 mph. León, who ended the night 3-for-5, leads the Space Cowboys and is tied for sixth in the Pacific Coast League with 26 RBI this season.
Over his last 17 games, León has hit .328 with four doubles, two triples, five home runs and 15 RBI.
The two home runs for León were part of a four-homer night for the Space Cowboys. Lewis Brinson and Korey Lee delivered back-to-back home runs in the sixth. Lee's sixth homer of the year traveled 440-feet to left-center. He finished the night 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI, also delivering RBI singles in the fourth and seventh.
Brinson has now homered four times in his last 13 games, hitting .357 over that stretch as well.
Hunter Brown got the start Saturday and struck out six batters through 5 1/3 innings, topping out at 98 mph. Brown is tied for second in the PCL with 41 strikeouts and is third with a 2.76 ERA. He also ranks fourth in the PCL with a .218 opponent's batting average.
JJ Matijevic got the Space Cowboys on the board with an RBI single in the fourth, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. The 10-game streak is the longest from the Space Cowboys this season and tied for the longest active streak in the PCL.
David Hensley joined Lee and León with a three-hit night, going 3-for-5 with a double and four runs scored.
Parker Mushinski, Ronel Blanco and Josh James each compiled scoreless innings in relief of Brown.
The Space Cowboys and Isotopes finish out their six-game set at 2:35 p.m. on Sunday. Chad Donato will take the mound for the Space Cowboys, with right-hander Zach Neal scheduled to start for Albuquerque.
