Eight-Run Ninth Turns Pitchers' Duel Into Laugher For Rox in 10-1 Win

LITTLE FALLS, NJ-RHP Brad Guy allowed just one run in eight innings on the mound and the Rox scored eight runs in the top of the ninth inning to blow away the New Jersey Jackals 10-1 at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, NJ. Guy has thrown 146.1 innings in 2006, setting a new league-record with one out in the third inning. CF Brad Rosenblat gave the Rox a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning with his second solo HR in as many nights, and 1B Francisco Lebron also hit a solo shot for the second straight night in the Rox victory. The Rox have scored 19 runs in the series after scoring just seven in the previous five games. With eight games left in the 2006 regular season, the Rox have a 45-39 record (overall) with a 21-17 mark in the second half.

Lebron drove home the game's first run in the first inning, plating SS Mike Scanzano with an RBI groudout against New Jersey starter RHP Joe Orloski. The Jackals tied the game in the bottom of the fourth against Guy when SS Guillero Reyes snuck a seeing-eye grounder through the infield to plate the Jackals' only run. Rosenblat's tape- measure blast, a solo shot to left, gave the Rox a one-run cushion, a lead which they held through the eighth inning.

Lebron led off the ninth with a HR to left on the first pitch of the inning. Rosenblat drove home his second run of the ninth with a line- drive double off the center field wall to make it 3-1. Subsequent hits by 2B Eugene Julien, LF Joe Hough,, C Jason Radwan, and new RF John Schmitz plated runs in one of the biggest innings of the season. The Rox send 14 batters to the plate and had nine hits in the frame. RHP Kyle George retired the final three batters in the bottom of the ninth.

RHP John Kelly (10-2, 2.76 ERA) takes the mound against his former team tomorrow at 2:05 PM as the Rox face the Jackals in their final road game of the regular season and final game of a three-game series.
