Nashua's Hamilton Wins Ninth

Nashua, NH - Lefthander Mark Hamilton won his team-high ninth game of the season on Saturday night as the Nashua Pride (22-15, 39-40) defeated the New Haven County Cutters (20-17, 39-44), 6-2, in front of 1,569 fans on Butch Hobson Appreciation Night at Historic Holman Stadium.

Hamilton (9-5) went six and two-third innings to post the victory. He scattered seven hits, allowed two earned runs, struck out one and did not walk a batter. Reliever Jason Paul got the final out of the seventh inning for Nashua while Jamie Baker was perfect in the eighth and ninth innings for the Pride, fanning four.

Jayson Bass belted his sixth home run of the season for Nashua, a solo shot in the first inning off New Haven County starter and loses Brad Whitworth (3-4), the first of three County Cutters' pitchers.

Tom Creighton had a pair of hits and scored a pair of runs for Nashua. Newcomer George Branch had a pair of sacrifice flies for the Pride in his first game in a Nashua uniform.

Nashua snapped a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning when Creighton stole third base and scored on a throwing error by New Haven County catcher Sandy DeLeon.

The County Cutters' scoring came in the third inning off Hamilton when DH Derrick Gibson launched a two-out, two-run homer his 13th of the season.

Game three of the series will be played Sunday afternoon at 2:05. Two lefthanders are scheduled to pitch with Jarrad Lavergne (4-6, 4.31) on the mound for Nashua and Rolando Valles (7-5, 2.93) for New Haven County.
