(Nashua, NH, Aug. 26, 2006) The Nashua Pride will close out the home regular season schedule with two final games at Historic Holman Stadium this Sunday, Aug. 27 and Monday, Aug. 28.
On Sunday, Glenn Murray's number 34 will be retired and the team will honor the eight-year veteran of Nashua Pride. Murray started his professional career with the Montreal Expos after getting drafted in the second round of the 1989 draft. The Nashua resident is the career leader in the Atlantic League for both home runs and runs batted in with 158 HR and 528 RBI. He is also second in career runs with 481 and fifth in career hits (701) and career doubles (133) in the Atlantic League. In eight years of service with the Pride, Murray has amassed an impressive stat line: 755 games played with 2,734 AB, 512 runs scored, 739 hits, 142 doubles, 163 HR and 559 RBI.
The Pride would also like to invite fans to a Spanish wine and pizza tasting event this Sunday at the ballpark with the participating local restaurants: Canal Street Pizza, Sky Market Pizza and Deli, Nashua House of Pizza, Jack's Pizza and Roy's Kitchen. Coming back to Nashua for Sunday's Aug. 27 game is the "World Famous" Monkey Boy! On Monday, the Pride battle the New Haven County Cutters as the squad continues the stretch run for the playoffs with the regular season home finale on Aug. 28 and please note the early start game time of 6:05 PM. One lucky fan will win a pair of tickets to the Santana with Jeff Beck concert at the Tweeter Center on Sep. 15.
For both the Sunday and Monday games, fans have the opportunity to win $10,000 if the Pride hit back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning.
The Nashua Pride, entering its first year of play in the eight-team Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball, plays their home games at Historic Holman Stadium.
