New Jersey Jackals News Release

Eduar Lopez was signed on July 27 by the New Jersey Jackals.

After making his first start against the Rockland Boulders on July 28, Lopez made history in his second start on Tuesday night.

Lopez threw the third no-hitter in franchise hitter, walking just one batter in the seventh inning as the Jackals defeated Ottawa, 5-0.

With his 89th pitch, Lopez induced a fly-out off the bat of Chase Harris to cap off the no-no.

New Jersey gave Lopez some early runs of support.

In the top of the third inning, designated hitter John Reuttiger hit an RBI single to score catcher Kevin Torres.

Center fielder David Harris later cashed in with a run-scoring single in the fifth to up the lead to 2-0.

A throwing error by the short stop Daniel Bick allowed Taylor Oldham to score in the sixth inning.

Then, Torres crushed his first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the right field wall to make it a 5-0 ball game.

Lopez faced one batter over the minimum, and walked Bick in the seventh inning.

The right-hander from Galvan, Dominican Republic, needed just four pitches in the ninth inning to wrap-up the historical start. It became just the fourth nine inning no-hitter in league history.

After an hour and forty-five minute delay, Lopez finished off Ottawa in one hour and fifty eight minutes.

New Jersey returns to action on Wednesday, August 8 at 11:05 A.M. and at 7:05 P.M. for a day/night double-header to finish off the series against Ottawa.
