Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings really tried to make a difference during their inaugural season when it came to charitable events. The hockey season may be over but the giving back to the community continues and an event like this is right up their alley!

Edmonton native and Oil Kings rookie Brent Henke plus Louie the Lion will be teaming up with Special Olympics Edmonton for the Servus Bowl for Special Olympics taking place at the Bonnie Doon Bowling Lanes from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Special Olympics Edmonton was formed in 1974 to give people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in organized sports training, recreation, and competitive activities. Today almost 500 Edmonton athletes participate year round in 35 sport programs.

Special Olympics Edmonton relies on its volunteers, the athletes themselves and fundraisers like the Servus Bowl for Special Olympics Edmonton to fund all its programs. They receive only 1% of its funding from government.

We invite all Edmonton and area businesses to join us for our annual Bowl for Special Olympics to help support the athletes and programs of Special Olympics Edmonton.
