Chilliwack Bruins News Release

Chilliwack BC - The Chilliwack Bruins announce the signings of Head Coach Jim Hiller and newly promoted Associate Coach Dan Price.

Both have signed multi-year deals with the club. The terms of which were not released.

"We are pleased with the job both Jim and Dan have done in our first two seasons," commented Bruins GM Darrell May. "As an organization we have worked very hard to establish a certain culture and Jim and Dan have been instrumental in that. I am confident they will be able to continue to improve the development of our hockey club," continued May.

Hiller, now entering his third season as the Head Coach of the Bruins, has seen his teams qualify for the playoffs over the past two seasons, posting win totals of 25 in 06-07 and 28 in 07-08. Under Hiller, the Bruins players have also been successful individually, with two players, (Mark Santorelli and Oscar Moller) being drafted into the NHL and one other player, (Nick Holden) being signed to a professional contract by a NHL club. Other players will go on to collegiate careers in the CIS or take advantage of the education opportunities afforded to them by playing in the WHL.

Jim Hiller: ‘We are looking forward as a staff to build on the foundation that we have laid over the past two years. We look forward to establishing our team as one of the elite teams in the WHL.'

The move promotes former Assistant Coach Dan Price to Associate Coach.

"Jim and I discussed this and both agreed that Dan deserved this promotion, Dan has been tremendous in his time here. He has a sharp hockey mind and an unsurpassed work ethic," notes May.

Dan Price: ‘We are excited about the direction that the team is going in. I am excited about being involved with the Chilliwack Bruins long term and I am looking forward to seeing our draft picks and players develop in our system.'
