Columbus Crew SC News Release
1. Sporting Kansas City - 39 pts. | 1-1 draw vs. Philadelphia Union; Week 22: at Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Sporting Kansas City was denied a home victory thanks to Brian Brown's first MLS goal.
2. D.C. United - 37 pts. | 3-0 win vs. Toronto FC, 1-0 loss at Houston Dynamo; Week 22: at Real Salt Lake
The midweek victory over Toronto FC was a statement result for the Black-and-Red, but a Sunday stoppage-time defeat to Houston marred United's week as a whole.
3. Toronto FC - 29 pts. | 3-0 loss at D.C. United, 2-0 win at Montreal Impact; Week 22: at Columbus Crew
Jermain Defoe's injury news comes at a poor time for the Reds, which play their next seven matches against Eastern Conference foes.
4. New York Red Bulls - 28 pts. | 1-1 draw at Real Salt Lake, 2-1 draw vs. New England Revolution; Week 22: at Chicago Fire
It was a great week for the Red Bulls: a big road point at Real Salt Lake was then bolstered by a comeback victory against New England despite being down a man.
5. Columbus Crew - 27 pts. | 1-1 draw at Chicago Fire; Week 22: vs. Toronto FC
Not only does the Crew begin a three-match homestand on Saturday, it's also the only one of the East's top five clubs to play at home this weekend.
6. New England Revolution - 26 pts. | 3-0 win vs. Colorado Rapids, 2-1 loss at New York Red Bulls; Week 22: Bye
New England did well to snap its eight-match losing skid with a resounding victory over Colorado, but the loss to New York left the Revs outside MLS Cup playoff position.
7. Philadelphia Union - 24 pts. | 1-1 draw at Sporting Kansas City; Week 22: vs. Montreal Impact
With just one loss in its last eight matches, the Union is playing better on the field, and it is also having success off of it, signing Algerian goalkeeper Rais M'Bolhi while also bringing Colombian defender Carlos Valdes back into the fold.
8. Houston Dynamo- 22 pts. | 1-0 win vs. D.C. United; Week 22: at Seattle Sounders FC
DaMarcus Beasley debuted in a big home victory over D.C. United, starting and playing the full 90 minutes at leftback.
9. Chicago Fire - 22 pts. | 0-0 draw vs. Vancouver Whitecaps, 1-1 draw vs. Columbus Crew; Week 22: vs. New York Red Bulls
The Fire's run of draws continues, as Chicago has now finished 13 matches level. Over the last two seasons, only one MLS club (Portland, 15 draws in 2013) has finished an entire year with that many.
10. Montreal Impact - 14 pts. | 2-0 loss vs. Toronto FC; Week 22: at Philadelphia Union
Another difficult week for Montreal, which fell to Toronto FC after relieving Sporting Director Nick De Santis of his duties.
