The Quakes will travel to the East Coast this week as they face the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday, April 7 at 4 p.m. PT. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF.

This past weekend the Quakes fell 2-1 to New York City FC at Avaya Stadium. Quakes defender Yeferson Quintana scored the first MLS goal of his career in the third minute of the match.

The last time these teams met, the Quakes earned a hard-fought point at home with a 2-2 draw. The match marked a six-game unbeaten streak at home dating back to June 2017 (4-0-2), and a 10-game unbeaten streak at home against Eastern Conference teams extending from the 2016 season. Earthquakes midfielder Vako opened the scoring in the third minute to mark his first MLS goal at Avaya Stadium and his second tally of the season. Earthquakes Homegrown midfielder Tommy Thompson earned his fourth assist of the season on Vako's goal. Quakes Captain Chris Wondolowski converted the stoppage-time penalty kick to level the match. The goal marked Wondo's 10th goal of the season, helping him become the only MLS player to score 10 goals in eight consecutive seasons.

History of the Quakes - Union Rivalry

San Jose and Philadelphia have played just 10 times in their history, with the Union only joining MLS as an expansion franchise ahead of the 2010 season ... The Quakes hold a 4-3-2 series edge, and have split a pair of meetings at Talen Energy Stadium ... The Quakes swept the series in 2010 ... A goal by Arturo Alvarez at 90+1 gave San Jose a come-from-behind 2-1 road win at Talen Energy Stadium on July 10, before a 1-0 victory courtesy of a 69th-minute Chris Wondolowski strike at Buck Shaw Stadium on Sept. 15 ... The Union won the first match-up of 2011 1-0 at Talen Energy Stadium on April 30, thanks to a 76th-minute penalty kick by Sebastien Le Toux. That match featured Anthony Ampaipitakwong, Justin Morrow and Steven Lenhart in their first starts for San Jose ... The return fixture ended in a scoreless stalemate at Buck Shaw on July 9 ... In their lone meeting in 2012, Steven Lenhart came off the bench to score twice, including a 93rd-minute game-winner, to lead San Jose to a 2-1 victory at Talen Energy Stadium on April 28 ... The Quakes won their only meeting 1-0 in 2013 after a goal from Shea Salinas at Buck Shaw Stadium on Sept. 8, 2013 ... Although the Quakes fought back from an early two goal deficit, the Philadelphia Union defeated the Earthquakes 4-2 in their only match-up of 2014 ... Never Say Die

The Quakes have scored 67 percent of their goals in the last 30 minutes of the match when facing the Philadelphia Union (8 of 12 total goals).

Breaking the Tie

The Quakes and Philadelphia have both scored 12 goals when facing each other. The Quakes will look to break the deadlock and take the advantage this Saturday.

Taking His Chances

Among all players in MLS history with 10 or fewer appearances against the Philadelphia Union, only three have scored more goals against the club than Chris Wondolowski (four).

Capitalize on Weaknesses

The Quakes will look to give the Union a shutout for a third consecutive match on Saturday. Philadelphia has not scored in the last two MLS regular season matches (3-0 L vs. Colorado 3/31; 0-0 T vs. Columbus 3/17).

Consistency

San Jose has used the same starting lineup in each of their three matches so far this season. Of the 11 players, only Chris Wondolowski, Anibal Godoy and Shea Salinas have ever played at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Eastern Time Zone

Saturday's match marks the team's first in the Eastern Time Zone in 2018. The Quakes will be looking to improve on their 0-4-1 record in such matches last season.

Settling In

In only his third regular-season appearance, Quakes defender Yeferson Quintana scored the first goal of his MLS career against New York City FC on March 31.

Georgia's Breakout Star

Quakes midfielder Vako scored in both of Georgia's last two international friendlies against Lithuania and Estonia in March. Vako's phenomenal goal against Estonia received praise worldwide and featured as the top play in ESPN Sports Center's Top 10 series. Vako currently has eight goals and four assists in his 32 appearances for the Georgia National Team.
